In this tutorial we show you how you can embroider letters and numbers with the BERNINA 880. Various alphabets are available, which you can select via the touch screen. As our video shows, letters and numbers or even whole phrases and sentences can be exceptionally combined with the various stitch patterns of your BERNINA 880 to create your own designs. Once you have created a combination that suits you, you can select the option “Edit whole combination” via the display, which allows you to efficiently edit the combination. You can freely design your own decorative stitches on the touch screen using the Stitch Designer function, simply by drawing them or editing existing decorative stitches. So you can create your own, individual stitches in no time! Using the multi-function button you can change each individual stitch within a pattern. And of course you can save all of your designs easily and delete them again when you no longer need them. You can also use a grid pattern to create graphic and geometric patterns, which helps you to design your stitch pattern with increased accuracy.

In this tutorial we show you how to programme and sew precise buttonholes with the BERNINA 880 and how to sew on buttons with the sewing machine. To do this, activate the “Buttonholes” function and choose a buttonhole design. You can easily set the width of the buttonholes on the touch screen. To set the length of the buttonhole, hold the button against the display and measure the necessary incision using the display measurement, which even adds two millimetres to allow for the thickness of the button. It couldn’t be easier or more practical! Of course you can also easily incorporate your personal settings, such as a different stitch width. In doing this the settings are programmed automatically and can be repeated as often as desired. Sewing on buttons is just as easy. You can also correct and optimise individual settings at any time during the sewing sequence, and of course save them.

In this instructional video you learn how to free-motion sew and quilt with the BERNINA Stitch Regulator (BSR). Thanks to the BSR foot, the sewing speed adapts flexibly to the movement of the fabric when sewing with the dropped feed dog. Thus the stitch length is regulated automatically and the stitches remain quite regular and the same length, regardless of how fast or slow you feed in the fabric. You can sew straight or zigzag stitches with the BSR foot. You can conveniently configure the desired stitches on the display of your BERNINA 880. You also have the option of starting sewing by pressing the button or using the presser foot. There are two different modes available. Either the needle moves permanently, whereby the stitch is automatically regulated and thus remains even, or the needle only moves when the fabric is also moving and stops a few seconds after the fabric stops moving. The second option is particularly recommended if you are not yet familiar with the system. So free-motion sewing and quilting with your BERNINA 880 is a pleasure from the start.
