Sewing Classes

Crochet Classes
Get started with crocheting in Whangarei. We offer beginner or refresher classes for crafties looking to have a fun time making something handmade.
Learn crochet basics stitches: form a chain, do singles and doubles, handle tension, neatly work in rows and rounds. You’ll also discover the wonders of crochet yarns – know the different types, sort by weight class, ply factor and fiber content.

Knitting Classes

Join Nicola to learn to knit socks using a toe-up technique that is fitted to your foot.
You will learn casting on, foot length, heel gusset and turning, leg lengths and casting off on a sample small sock during class times.
Five weekly sessions allow time to knit your own size sock between sessions. The 1st session is learning to use magic loop cast on and knitting techniques.
Date: Saturday 28th June, Continuing weekly until Saturday 26th July
Time: 10pm – 1pm each session

This project requires an accurate ¼” seam allowance so your ¼” foot appropriate for your machine is essential.

Machine Embroidery 101
Learn more about embroidery, hooping and stabilisers, during a 4 session programme with Sandy.
I will be demonstrating techniques and having you hands-on using our BERNINA Northland embroidery machines so you do not need to bring your machine and embroidery unit to each session.
We will be concentrating on using designs already within your machine rather than software or manipulating designs in software prior to stitching.
There will be a small amount of homework after each session for you to stitch out the designs we practice in class.
Dates: Begins Monday 14th July and continues weekly until Monday 4th August.
